Confirmation for adults is offered to the parishioners of the Diocese of Baton Rouge each year on Pentecost Sunday on which day the Church celebrates the fulfillment of Christ's promise to send the Holy Spirit to support us in our desire to lead a Christian life. The Adult Confirmation ceremony will be held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Baton Rouge on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the 12:00 noon Mass.
A six week period of preparation is required of Holy Rosary parishioners. Meetings will be held once a week on Sunday mornings from 9:00 am until 10:45 am in the Adult Education Building here at Holy Rosary. The first meeting is scheduled for April 8, 2018. At the first meeting you will be given information about each of the scheduled gatherings with dates, times and locations. If you were not baptized at Holy Rosary, you need to bring a copy of your Baptism certificate to the first meeting. The church where you were baptized will be able to obtain a copy for you if you do not have record of this already.
You will also need a sponsor. This person serves as a model of the Catholic faith to you, perhaps a sibling, friend, or your godparent named at Baptism (A parent or a fiancé is not eligible). The person must be a Confirmed practicing Catholic. (Attends Mass on a regular basis and partakes of the Eucharist; if married must be in a valid Catholic marriage.) A sponsor eligibility form can be obtained by contacting the religious education director. We ask your sponsor to participate with you in as many preparation sessions as possible. Although this is not required, we strongly encourage you to select someone who can participate in your journey of faith during this time of preparation. Please submit the sponsor form with the registration information or bring it with you to the first meeting.
Please call Wendy at the Religious Education office #647-3696 or email to email@example.com to register and receive more information.
