Liturgical

Weekend Choirs

Musician-Anyone having experience playing an instrument and enjoys playing.  Choirs practice once per week.

Teen Choir Member - 4:00 pm Vigil Mass-This Choir is for teens and young adults.  Weekly rehearsal Saturdays at 3:00 pm.

Choir Member - 9:00 am Sunday Mass-This choir is open to anyone who enjoys singing and has a desire to encourage congregational participation at the 9 am Mass. Weekly rehearsal Sundays at 8:00 am.  

Choir Member - 11:00 am Sunday Mass-This choir is open to anyone who enjoys singing and has a desire to encourage congregational participation at the 11 am Mass.  Weekly rehearsal Tuesdays at 7:30 pm.

Funeral Choir Member-This choir is open to anyone who wants to serve our community by singing at church funerals. Rehearsal will be prior to the funeral service.   CONTACT: Marie Gonzales, 647-6398

Sacristan-Clean and purify the sacred vessels used at Mass and prepare the sanctuary for the next Mass scheduled on a rotating basis.  CONTACT: Susan Gautreau, 647-5321 or email holyrosary@eatel.net

Care of Altar Robes-Requires an adult who is willing to take altar robes home for repair and cleaning, as needed.  CONTACT:  Parish Office, 647-5321

Altar Server-Assists the priest at liturgical celebrations.  Training is provided for new servers.  Open to youth 4th grade and up, scheduled on a rotating basis. CONTACT: Lisa McAlister, 933-2745

Adult Altar Server-Assists the pastor during funerals or weekday Masses as needed. CONTACT: Parish Office, 647-5321

Usher-For men and women who serve as ministers of hospitality at liturgical celebrations, greeting people, assisting with seating parishioners, receiving offerings, etc. Serves at Mass as scheduled on a rotating basis.  CONTACT: Randy Moran, 715-2367

Greeter-Help provide an atmosphere of Christian hospitality at liturgical celebrations by greeting parishioners as they arrive at Church.  Requires arriving 30 minutes prior to your scheduled Mass. CONTACT: Susan Gautreau, 647-5321 or email holyrosary@eatel.net

Weekend Eucharistic Minister-Serves the community by distributing Holy Communion at weekend Masses.  Minister must be Confirmed, 17 years of age, and able to participate fully in the Sacramental life of the Church.  Involves serving at weekend liturgies scheduled on a rotating basis.  CONTACT: Susan Gautreau, 647-5321 or email holyrosary@eatel.net

Homebound Eucharistic Minister-Brings Holy Communion to the homebound of our community weekly on Wednesday mornings after 8:00 am Mass. CONTACT:  Rani Coleman, 647-5321 or email holyrosarysec@eatel.net

Eucharistic Minister Azalea Estates of Gonzales-Bring the Eucharist to residents occasionally on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am.  CONTACT:  Rani Coleman, 647-5321 or email holyrosarysec@eatel.net

Eucharistic Minister Nursing Home-Bring the Eucharist to residents.  Approximately one hour after the 9:00 am Mass on Sunday.  Scheduled on a rotating basis.  CONTACT:  Rani Coleman, 647-5321 or email holyrosarysec@eatel.net

Eucharistic Minister St. Elizabeth Hospital-Bring the Eucharist to those in the hospital. Assigned approximately every 4-6 weeks on Thursday after the

Spiritual Life and Adult Formation

Small Faith Group-Groups who meet once a week for six weeks to grow in their relationship with the Lord by breaking open the Word of God.  Each six week session allows members a chance to learn, share, and pray together.  CONTACT:  Lynn Alexander, 675-8163 or Wendy Enloe, 647-3696 or email holyrosaryre@eatel.net

Parish Prayer Line-Prayer line volunteers are called to pray at home for the special intentions of the community. CONTACT: Marie Gonzales, 647-6398

Devotional Committee-Gathers before scheduled masses and funerals to recite the rosary.  CONTACT:  Tara Sevario, 278-4333

Adoration - Adorer/Substitute-Adorers are asked to give one hour each week in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament beginning after daily Mass on Thursday until 8:00 pm and Friday until 7:00 pm. Substitute adorers also needed.  CONTACT: Jean Taylor, jeanmst66@eatel.net

Men of the Cross-Through fellowship our mission is to help men of our parish to enrich their Catholic faith and their walk with our Brother Jesus Christ.  Through this mission we will have a better connection with our Church, family, community and an unbreakable bond with our Brother Jesus Christ. Catholic Charismatic Renewal -CCR-CCR Prayer Meeting on the third Thursday of every month and is open to all men and women of faith. The Rosary at 6:30 PM, Prayer Meeting at 7:00 PM. Come experience Praise & Worship, Scripture Teaching, and Prayers of Healing. CONTACT: Tim Lessard, 715-5103

Bible Study-Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible-In this one day study, participants review the Bible Timeline and learn how to read and understand the bible. Offered on Saturdays 4 times a year. CONTACT: Wendy Enloe, 647-3696 or holyrosaryre@eatel.net

 

Community Life 

Knights of Columbus-A national, Catholic, fraternal organization dedicated to promoting the ideas of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. They strive to give a public witness of faith through their service to the needy, sick, youth, elderly and one another. Commitment:  Monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of the month. KC Auxiliary-Assist the Knights of Columbus and promotes good fellowship through religious and social activities with meetings once a month.  Those eligible: Wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, and widows of members of the Knights of Columbus.  CONTACT: Sherri Villar, 622-3313

Catholic Daughters-Catholic Daughters of the Americas engage in creative and spiritual programs that embrace the principle of faith working through love to promote justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and dignity for all.  Meetings are the first Thursday of the month at 6:30pm.  Women 18 years or older.  CONTACT:  Sheila Moore, 225-241-9599

Social Committee-Provides assistance to the Church ministries by preparing and/or serving refreshments for Parish receptions and celebrations. CONTACT: Edith Powers, 715-6188

Maintenance Committee-Individuals with talents and abilities to provide maintenance to areas around the Church campus. CONTACT: Duane Miller, 647-5321

Sacraments 

Sponsor Couple for the Engaged-Married couples meet with engaged couples to prepare for the Sacrament of Matrimony.  Training sessions are required. Meetings take place in the married couple’s home. CONTACT: Susan Gautreau, 647-5321 or email holyrosary@eatel.net

Baptism Seminar-Facilitate short presentations, video, discussion, and personal reflection for parents preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism.  CONTACT: Bebe Landry, 937-0877 or bebe@eatel.net

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) & Children (RCIC)

           Team Members: Assist with hospitality, communication or presentation of topics for the process. Training required.

           Sponsors: Accompany and support those interested in becoming fully initiated in the Catholic Church.

           Participant: Sessions are held on Wednesday 7:00-8:30pm from August thru May for anyone interested in the Catholic faith.

Youth Education

Religious Education is provided to children in grades 1-11 and their parents.  Our Catholic beliefs and practices are presented to children in an environment in which they may experience God’s love, mercy and forgiveness in order to live in a loving, intentional relationship with Jesus and follow as his disciple. Elementary and Middle School Catechist/Assistant/Substitute-Teaches students about Jesus Christ, the Catholic faith, and the meaning of Christian discipleship. Check back on May 19th & 20th for 2018-2019 updated schedule information.

High School Catechist/Assistant/Substitute-Teaches students about Jesus Christ, the Catholic faith, and the meaning of Christian discipleship. Check back on May 19th & 20th for 2018-2019 updated schedule information.

Office Assistant-Assist the Director in the office during class sessions.

High School Retreat Host-Attends a one day retreat at Holy Rosary with students, serving as an adult chaperone and helping during lunch.

Religious Education-Greeter-Greets students and volunteers at the covered drop-off area and assists them in getting into the building safely and/or interacts with them inside while they await classes to begin; scheduled on a rotating basis during the session day/time of your choice.

Religious Education-Babysitter-Sits with the younger children of our catechists during Religious Education session.                                                           

Religious Education-Hospitality-Organizes or serves for various Religious Education workshops and dinners throughout the year.

Vacation Bible School Volunteer (VBS)-VBS provides children, kindergarten thru 6th grade, with an opportunity to learn more about God and their own parish community while enjoying fun-filled activities.  Volunteers assist VBS Coordinator in areas of arts and crafts, snacks, games, and group leaders.  Baby-sitting is provided for volunteers’ children under the age of 5 years.   One week in the summer from 9:00 am to 12:15pm Monday-Friday.  CONTACT:  Jamie Lambert, 647-3696 or holyrosaryrea@eatel.net

Youth Ministry

Youth on Fire (YOF) Team-Adults and young adults who are energetic, dependable, and open to developing parish activities that will lead our youth to God through Jesus.  Commitment: Monthly in Parish Center Rm 8.

Adult Volunteer-Adults and young adults who are interested in assisting with serving food, leading small group activities, or chaperoning youth during parish activities Commitment: Days/Times vary with event and Child Protection Paperwork is required.

Adult Event Chaperone-Adults 21 years and older who are interested in attending youth events outside of the parish. Commitment: Days/Times vary with event and Child Protection Paperwork is required.

Youth on Fire (YOF) Youth Group-Students in grades 6th-12th who are interested in deepening their faith within a group of other Catholic youth with the same desire to know Jesus more intimately. Commitment: Monthly in Parish Center Rm 8.

Youth Volunteer-Open to any youth 8th-12th grade who is interested in deepening their faith through parish and community service. Commitment: Days/Times vary with event.

Jr Catholic Daughter-Open to any young girl ages 5-17 who is interested in helping the community through service oriented volunteer opportunities, which include Senior Citizen’s Dinner, Easter baskets for Woman’s Shelter, holiday crafts at Nursing Home, and many more. Services and Outreach 

Community Responsibility Committee-A service to the bereaved, working at the Fellowship Center, Christmas food baskets, Senior Citizens Dinner, food pantry, disaster assistance, and other emergency assistance as needed to Catholics and non-Catholics alike.  CONTACT: Deacon JR Salinas, 647-5321 or Becky Shillings, 921-1853 or becky54cda@gmail.com

Fellowship Center Volunteer-An ecumenical effort to serve the poor and needy of Ascension Parish.  Assist with sorting, hanging, distributing, and selling clothes and other items collected at the Fellowship Center located in Gonzales. CONTACT: Delores Acosta, 588-8541

Hunt Correctional Prison Ministry-Those serving in this ministry visit LCIW weekly to minister with and mentor inmates and participate in Saturday 9:30 am Mass. Volunteers must attend November state certification training session. CONTACT: Sharon Turner, 450-4702 or geauxturner08@yahoo.com.
